Social-political activities of Mihajlo Pupin are alo very important area in his work. He started to act socialy especially since 1908, and Bosnia and Herzegovina`s anexy. this was considered as an attempt to stop Yugoslavian people to be free and united.

Pupin as a member of Yugoslav national council in USA
Because of this, Main emigrant committee was founded in New York , and Pupin was its president. At the first all-serbian meeting 15.9.1909. held in St. Claire Avenuse in Kleveland, Pupin gave inspired speach about union of the people and his needs. At the end he suggested the new name of the organisation: United Serbs aliance "Sloga", and determined New York as its center. The main aim of this organisation was to gather all serbian aliances in America. This was managed only in 1929, when the Serbian national aliance was founded in Pitsburgh.
After the beginning of the balkanian war, Pupin started organising and sending the volunteers to Serbia. He asked those who couldn`t come to give some money for Serbian red cross. At the same time he cooperated with american journalists so that both America and Serbia could be objectively informed about everything. When the World war 1 came to its end, and when volounteers came back, Pupin himself waited for them in New York, so he could give to everyone 7 dollars for the trip to their homes. He also promised that he will help anybody who couldn't find a job.

The most important event in his social-work, was taking part on the Peace conference in Paris.

At the moment when changing of the borders could be bad for Yugoslavian people, the prime minister Stojan Protić, sent Pupin a telegram asking him to come to Paris and help the Yugoslavian delegation with his authority and cooperators in America.

Pupin accepted and left for Paris on March 31st, where he came on April 10th. Then, he met president of the delegation - Nikola Pašić, and found out more about all important issues and people. After this, he gave all necessary arguments to the Americans, and he was the connection between Yugoslavian delegation and Americans. During this fifty-day work of the Peace conference, which was held till May 31st 1919, Mihajlo Pupin contributed, using his friendship with USA`s president Wilson and foreign office Lansing, in defining of Yugoslavia`s borders and in including Dalmatia, western Slovenia, part of Slavonia, Baranja and his Banat into the State SHS.

As a sign of gratefulness, people of Bled declared Mihajlo Pupin to be their honoured citizen. He was also the honoured citizen of Zrenjanin in 1921. Selflessly, he supported our country financialy: from gymnasium in Bijeljina, National home for education in agriculture in Idvor, to the church of St. Clement in Ohrid. He also founded Olimpijada Pupin fond which was supposed to help children who lost their pearnts in war and all poor children in the whole country.
